CFIC-Qdrive has introduced a new co-axial coldhead for its 132-class cryocoolers (2s132K), with more than 20% improved performance and 1/3 mass reduction, compared to the popular U-tube coldhead it replaces. The new coldhead fits in a smaller dewar neck (55 mm); still operates in all orientations; and is available in either close-coupled or FAR (flexibly-attached remote) configurations. Like all Qdrive coldheads; the new 132 co-ax has no moving parts or dynamic seals, is balanced, silent, and maintenance-free. Pricing is unchanged. The first recipient-user of a Qdrive cooler with the new coldhead is a U.S. National Laboratory; which will use it for maintaining ultra-pure liquid xenon as part of a dark-matter search program.
